OLYMPUS E1

frontview-001.jpg

I have just added one of these to my collection and I have to thank  Marc Ackrill-Smith, whom I purchased it from, for looking after it so well.
(Now got 2 of these and a 330)

For a 5 year old design it works and handles very well, I know that Marc had a problem because he is left eye dominant  and the lay out doesn't suit  him to well, but as you can see from the photographsit did not stop him taking some stunning images.
The three pictures here are Marc's taken in Scotland 2006

As you can see he seems to have mastered it anyway

Give me a bit of time and I will add to the pictures on this page and extend the write up to include my opinion's. I may give a bit of a comparison between my 8meg E500 and the 5meg E1 using the same lenses to keep it fair.

First try , these are the result of my first trip out with the E1

For a first time out I was pleased with the way it handles, it suits
my hands and style of working

770_1_thumb.jpg

I have now had a bit more time to get used to the E1 and have made a couple of new purchases ,  1x 35ml f3.5 Olympus macro lense and 1x E1 battery power grip.
Both were purchased from Cameta Camera in the US, the price was right! and the service 1st class.
The more use I get the more impressed I become, the tones are superb and the images exceed what is normal for a 5 meg camera, a couple of examples are below.

These are both taken using the 40 x 150ml at it's long end at  iso 800 for the Squirrel  and iso 200 for our feathered friend.
